The little grey blocks are put inside the wells to get the desired height. You can build it up with lots or just a few depending on how high you would like to raise the bed or raise the armchair.
(Note from Charmaine: these chair and bed raisers are much sturdier and safer than some of the blocks available. If there is any doubt in your mind that the chair or bed might be a bit wobbly on raising blocks, these and the Elephants feet raisers are the best ones to use.
