| Frequently Asked Questions Do you buy used scooters / powerchairs / wheelchairs? Or accept donations? Yes, scooters only. Manual wheelchairs are donated to local hospices and charities. We no longer offer or purchase secondhand powerchairs. As for scooters, due to the resale value and servicing costs, we limit our purchasing prices. We only offer this service within the South East. Contact us about this. We like to offer a donation to a hospital or charity in the case of receiving goods for free. We often deal with house clearances and the need for disposal is more important than financial gain, but we always like to give a bit back to the donating party, their estate or a nominated charity. Thank you for thinking of us! Do you hire out scooters / powerchairs / wheelchairs? No, we are unable to offer this service. There are no plans to offer this service. Speak to your local Age Concern or Red Cross as they often offer wheelchair hire. Do you offer finance or deferred payments? No, we apologise but we cannot offer credit services in any way. It is against our business ethics to offer finance to the elderly and condemn other mobility companies for doing so. Why can’t I have a home demonstration outside the South East? At this time we are restricted to a small area. We sell products outside this zone but are unable to follow up with any visits until we expand nationwide by region within the next two years or so. Can I visit you and your shop? No, unfortunately, Wheelie Good Mobility is an online and catalogue based company. We found that by minimising overhead costs such as a shop, or stock, or staff costs - we can give you the best prices! Order a copy of our catalogue and if you would like to order anything, treat it as you would any other catalogue order. You can have a home demonstration of any of our used mobility scooter stock within the South East. Contact us to discus your needs even if you are from outside this area. How long is delivery? About 3-5 working days, slightly longer for bespoke products. The delay usually occurs in the arrangement of delivery. We always try and get things to our customers as soon as we can. If you're in a hurry, let us know and we'll strive to meet your needs. Am I covered straight away with insurance? Please allow 48 business hours for us to process your insurance application and payment Why are some products not exempt from VAT - I'm disabled!? This is a tricky topic, but we will do our best to make our point clear and concise: There are some goods which may be ideal for those with disabilities or chronic illnesses (making them VAT exempt), but could be used by those which are able bodied. For example, a daily dose pill box is not VAT exempt because although disabled and elderly people would benefit from using it, able bodied people can use it for their daily vitamin pills! Or an able bodied person might buy an over bed table on castors, normally ideal for those in bed, but they just like doing jigsaw puzzles and moving it from room to room. We are really, really careful with our VAT - it's always best to be over cautious than reckless and in hot water. If we've made an error of putting VAT on a product which is exempt, please let us know. I need to change a battery, but the mobility scooter / powerchair has two batteries, is it best to change both? Yes, if one battery is not working properly, the other battery takes the strain. This will depreciate the good battery faster, and in the end both batteries would be of lower charge and have a reduced rate of recharge. Always change batteries altogether. Do You Service / Repair Mobility Scooters? Yes, but only within the South East, please call us. We can offer on-site diagnosis and repair for a small call-out charge. If the mobility scooter / wheelchair needs to be take away or parts need to be ordered, this will be at extra cost. Can you explain why there is a maths sum on the contact us forms? The small sum is also known as a CAPTCHA and provides a test that only a human could complete. Without it our mailbox gets crammed full of junk emails full of gibberish sent by an automated robot on a mission to spam website contact forms. You can read more about CAPTCHA by clicking on the word. Why aren't there many three-wheeled mobility scooters here? We're not fans of three wheeled mobility scooters, we just don't think they are as safe as four wheeled ones. In our experience, we've heard about more accidents on three-wheeled mobility scooters than anything else. It's not to say we refuse to sell them, we can get you whatever you wish, but we're lack a little confidence in their safety when mounting and dismounting raised kerbs in fear of tipping frontwards. Some people totally disagree and love a three-wheeled mobility scooter so we will always sell them. After all, it's your mobility scooter, and you'll be driving it, and we'll always support your choices.
