The Mall's 'Retail Factor'

February 8th 2011

We've entered the Kent Messenger and The Mall's latest competition, 'The Retail Factor'.

Here's the information from the Mall's website:

The Retail Factor competition is for any small retail business looking to grow. We understand that the hardest part of growing your business is getting in front of the right customers. Our competition gives the opportunity for 11 lucky businesses to do just that and for FREE.

The overall prize for each winning business includes:

  • 2 months free trading in The Mall on a Retail Merchandising Unit
  • A free Sony laptop
  • Free business mentoring from the National Skills Academy

Plus the business that achieves the best sales results in their 2 month period gets a free place on the exclusive retail business course, BHF-BSSA Oxford Summer School.

The overall prize is worth well over £10,000.

We've been selected to be one of the top six which got to stand in the mall at Maidstone (Chequer's Centre) for two weeks, starting Monday.

We have to get the stand looking lovely, so we went down to measure up:

Here's our finished stand

That's Bob on the stand, he's in charge of the used mobility scooter side of the business. What he doesn't know about scooters isn't worth knowing!

So, we've been in the Chequer's Centre for two weeks and we've made over 200 new customers for our mail-order catalogue. We've sold an array of used scooters and bath lifts, too. The response has been phenominal, people love to hear the Wheelie Good story.  We hope to hear back from the judges in April.

April 26th 2011

We've just had a phone call to tell us that the other 5 people in the competition have completed their two weeks in the mall each and that we had won! We've won two free months from this coming Monday (2nd May) until July 1st and a Sony Vaio laptop!

Come find us outside Hawkins Bazaar from Monday 2nd May!

Now our application and reports from the Malls by region gets submitted to the national competition. Watch this space for an update!

We give our thanks to Suzie Brindle and judges.
